EgeTrans receives certificate as AEO-F from German customs authority.

EgeTrans proudly announces receiving an Authorized Economic Operator certificate (AEO-F) as a logistics provider for sea- and airfreight from the German Customs Authority. The on-site audit to finalize the certification process was completed successfully on April 9th 2010 at Corporate Headquarters in Marbach am Neckar/Germany. EgeTrans had applied for the AEO-F certificate at the end of 2009 (certificate AEO-F: Security Facilitations/Customs Simplifications).

The admission as AEO sets high demands on company's reliability and security. Companies with AEO-F status receive many benefits regarding customs controls over safety and security requirements, including significant customs simplifications provided under the current customs rule. The certificate provides EgeTrans with a lower risk score at customs, benefiting EgeTrans customers with shorter transit times and reduced customs controls.

EgeTrans easily exceeded the certification requirements due to a very high commitment to supply chain security. For the most part, the required security measurements have already been implemented at EgeTrans through the participation in the C-TPAT program of the US Customs and Border Protection and through the certification as Regulation Agent for Airfreight.

Background information
In the last years, the international economic situation has changed drastically. Through growing globalization and changing security conditions, World Customs Organization (WCO) felt obliged to create a framework which should be valid globally. The framework will be the basis for a modern and effective risk management inside world wide customs administration. In 2005 the European Union put the security initiative into European law with the alteration of customs code (VO (EG) Nr. 648/2005). With the implementation regulation (VO (EG) Nr. 1875/2006) the security initiative was clearly defined in the end of 2006. The introduction of AEO is the most important result of the regulation.

EgeTrans showed exceptional performance in the following fields:

Security standards:
EgeTrans attaches great importance to fulfill the security standards and exceeds the requirements demanded by the customs authority easily. Through the participation in the C-TPAT program and the certification as Regulation Agent for Airfreight it is shown that security topics have high priority at EgeTrans and security standards are already implemented.

Complete documentation of operational handling:
EgeTrans automatically documents the process of all shipments via digital archive where all proceeded steps per order can be followed. This creates the transparency required by customs.

Overall picture:
EgeTrans presents itself overall as modern and security-aware company

Authorized Economic Operator certificate
The idea behind the certification as AEO is to make companies who are doing business worldwide and cross border, secure market participants. The certification is valid for and in all EU member countries. Companies with AEO certificate benefit from facilitations with regard to customs controls relating to safety and security and/or get customs simplifications provided under the current customs rule.

Companies can apply for AEO at their responsible customs offices and must complete the demanded requirements. The certification will be granted after the application and on-site visit, carried out by the specific customs office.
