Spread of the coronavirus

As the new week begins, efforts to stem the spread of the corona virus are increasing worldwide. In Germany, too, there are massive restrictions in public life, such as the closure of institutions like schools, restaurants or cinemas. Major events and assemblies are prohibited. Travel is significantly restricted by border controls and entry bans. Even if the movement of goods is not affected in principle, restrictions must be expected.
Nevertheless, we at EgeTrans do our utmost to offer our clients the service they are accustomed to.

All our three EgeTrans locations in Marbach/Germany, Chicago/USA and Santiago de Querétaro/Mexico are open and fully operational. Our employees are prepared for the current exceptional situation. 80 percent of our capacities are also available remotely. The necessary hygiene measures have been taken. Our operating sites and truck partners are also maintaining operations and implementing all precautionary measures.

Air freight
After the US government imposed an entry ban last week, transatlantic air freight rates have skyrocketed. Under normal conditions, about 80% of transatlantic airfreight volume is transported by passenger aircraft. The demand for capacity on cargo aircraft is correspondingly high in the current situation.

Ocean freight
In the ocean freight sector, container shortages in Europe continue to prevail due to "blank sails". Shipping companies are holding out for rate increases for the coming quarter.

Trucking
At the moment, the movement of goods is on the move, but delays must be expected due to border controls. In addition, there is also less freight space available here, as freight forwarders can only use their drivers to a limited extent due to the precautionary measures.
