Strike at Lufthansa

12.03.2026

Possible Flight Cancellations on March 12 and 13, 2026

Due to a strike call by the pilots union for Thursday, March 12, 2026, and Friday, March 13, 2026, hundreds of Lufthansa flights may be cancelled.

The background to the industrial action is an ongoing dispute between the union and Lufthansa. The union announced the strike after negotiations failed to reach an agreement.

The strike will not only affect Lufthansa passenger flights. According to current information, the strike will also be extended to the cargo subsidiary Lufthansa Cargo. In addition, Lufthansa CityLine, the airline’s regional subsidiary, will be included in the strike for the first time.

As a result of the strike action, flight cancellations, delays and disruptions in air freight operations may occur at numerous airports. In particular, delays in the handling and onward transport of shipments can be expected in the air cargo sector.

It is currently unclear how quickly flight operations will return to normal after the strike ends. We therefore recommend taking potential impacts on existing and planned shipments into account.
